"URBAN STRIKE - THE SEQUEL TO JUNGLE STRIKE. HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE!
First the Desert Madman, then the Jungle Drug Lord... now a new evil challenges the Strike C.O.R.E right here in America! Ruthless media mogul and political maverick + H.R. Malone secretly plans to destabilize the I.S. government. Crush this rebellion at all costs!
Over 40 missions in 7 power-packed levels across the U.S. 3 all-new vehicles for your arsenal. Ability to attack on foot
New massive in-game objects and dense cityscapes. Eradication bombs and special power-ups -new timed levels and interactive panels. All-new digitized explosions and reactive chopper sounds New hi-tech enemy weaponry and beefed up AI"

Urban Strike was mostly a console exclusive for the two leading 16 bit machines and two handheld platforms. The Genesis and Snes versions are largely the same but the Game Gear and Gameboy versions are considerably cutdown which isn't too surprising but done in a way that feels rushed and incomplete just like the Jungle Strike conversion. Even with platform limits in mind, missing levels, poor sfx, god awful music and no real ending and a poor attempt to scale the original gfx instead of cleaning up to something more suited for the small resolution. Is it still good for a Game Gear? Well I suppose it is even with what little there is but that doesnt negate the feeling like a prototype and rushed out for a quick buck. The way the game skips frames to make the helicopter appear faster is jarring and painful on the eyes after a while. The features listed on the box are misleading and lifted directly from the genesis game.

The game takes place over a series of missions, each with multiple objectives. You can press START to see what missions are available and see way points as well as see how much fuel and ammo you have. There isn't any description of each mission so you have to work it out as you go. During play you fly around destroying enemies with your bullets (Hold Button2), Hydras (Button 2) Hellfire's (Button 1) and you can also jink the helicopter (Hold Button 1). You need to keep an eye on fuel and ammo and pickup with the winch as needed. Enemies are thankfully easier to kill than in other versions and you can also take a bit more of a pounding as the enemies hit with laser accuracy.
