Player's Review
"The thrills and spills of the World Wrestling Federation* brought to your screen! Test your strength in this muscle-bound wrestling extravaganza. Become the undisputed champion as Hulk Hogan**, The Ultimate Warrior* or the British Bulldog*. Battle for survival against Sgt. Slaughter*, the Warlord* and a host of other WWF* superstars. Anything goes in this all-action event, and only the toughest survives!"
Home Computer version of WrestleMania published by Ocean on most of the 8 and 16 bit computers of the time. The game offers three playable wrestlers each with the there own special moves and witty pre fight banter. I previously played as the British Bulldog in the Spectrum game, Hulk Hogan in the Commodore64 game and now as The Ultimate Warrior in the Amiga game.
Gameplay can be frustrating mainly due to the controls. There are five rounds, each getting slightly more difficult. You get plenty of moves to use against your opponent but some can be tricky to pull off as the game randomly decided if its reading your inputs but you will mostly be caught in the grapple which requires wiggling the joystick frantically. Ok if it happened occasionally, but its happens every time the opponent walks into you! I find it very frustrating on a joystick, but a pad makes it easier although you have to hold it in a way that you are always ready to rock the pad. You can leave the ring and try to bash the opponent with the chair, but don't stay out to long. You can bounce off the ropes, jump off the posts and eventually pin down the opponent.
Overall, It's a frustrating game but it's well presented and that's what keeps me coming back to this game. Even though the controls are often seemingly unresponsive and the game may as well be called wwf grapple mania, there is just something about it that pulls you back in. Nobody would call this a great game but its far from the worst. The title music is believable as something that might have played in a sports arena and well done on all the 8/16-bit platforms. The fighting ring does seem a bit bare without the wwf logo as the Spectrum version had it.
00:00:00 Titles
00:02:23 vs Mr Perfect
00:06:21 vs Warlord
00:09:57 vs Million Dollar Man
00:13:27 vs Mountie
00:17:07 vs Sgt. Slaughter
