Player's Review

"DIZZY hits the panic stations as the HYDRAULIC CRUSHERS get closer and closer, belching steam - the machines going into TERMINATION SEQUENCE and its down to you to stop it."

Maybe the weakest game in the Dizzy series of games but still at a budget friendly price. An arcade style game where you need to collect as many shapes as possible while the crushers drop down.

The rules are simple. Wait for a shape to come down the belt, then line up the shape quality checker and press fire to force the shape to drop down. Line up two shapes for double score bonus. Line up three for a triple bonus as well as pushing back the crushers. Score a quad bonus to collect a toy!

The game can get frustrating quickly as once the crushers drop down half way, the likely hood of scoring a tripple to push back the crushers is highly unlikely and the game will soon be over. While the crushers are high you have time to see what's coming down and decide if its safe to wait for more shapes to come down or drop them to clear space. The game has no ending so you have no real goal other than a highscore. Interestingly the C64 game loops after level 20 causing the shapes count to bug out. All toys were collected as nomore were being rewarded for collecting quad shapes bonus. This was a good point to end the longplay.

However there is a game breaking bug that if you score a double or a triple on the last drop of the level, there is a high chance the bonus will get stuck on. Great for score and keeping the crushers up, but the game no longer responds to the fire button to drop the shapes. Just make sure you still line up the shapes to win.
