Player's Review

"Catch the action with Toobin' - the world's first inner-tube race! Join Biff and Jet the tube-dudes as they cruise the world's roughest rivers. Check out the rapids, stay one jump ahead of the crocs and arm yourself with tin cans to biff any creeps that get in the way. Paddle down river avoiding logs and branches that'll pop your tube. Watch out for swamp monsters and fishermen, and swish through checkpoint gates for mega points. It's crazy fun all the way to the hazards of the white-water challenges. So grab your joystick and get paddling with the rad-lads if you want a taste of the action."

Not much to say on this conversion. You move downstream while avoiding obstacles and riverside nasties while collecting bonus items and manoeuvring through score gates. There are hidden Toobin letters to collect as well which will give a score boost at the end of the game. There are ten levels over five areas that appear to be chosen at random as you pass through the fork at the end of each stage. Each area has its own unique look and baddies to avoid.

The C64 game seems to be an overall good conversion with colourful blocky gfx that can have some very suspect collision detection at times. Controls can feel twitchy as the games moves and response a bit to quick for it's own good at times. Quite a short game that's as easy or difficult as you make it by hanging around to collect bonus items while being shot at as the screen scrolls against you. You can shoot riverside enemies to stun them for a few moments.
