Player's Review

"Are you fast enough and good enough to terminate the aliens?"

Another 1.99 budget title. I'm not sure where this fits into the Gaxx game stack as it's not numbered but I imagine it is before Thunderbolt and Gun Runner. Like all the other Gaxx games, the game loops endlessly with no kind of ending.

The game plays like Uridium in that you can turn left and right and scroll across the level laying waste to enemies. The enemies attack in two waves, both using the exact same flight patterns. Each wave is like a time limit in that you don't have to destroy any of them, only survive for x amount of time. After the first wave something happens causing a great earthquake.

The Second wave starts and this time instead of destroying the wave, the objective is to land on the landing pad. From here you hit the planets self destruct function and head off on your way, stopping by the local space casino before heading off to destroy the next planet. If you don't land on the pad, the consequences are that you skip the next planet(good?) ant the cost of a life(bad).

The final level can be brutal in that it goes on a long time with the most annoying of enemies. At this point of the game I accidently found the perfect spot to sit to avoid being killed by the guardian wave. The game loops and starts over but I didn't notice any change in difficulty level.

Overall, not a great game. The title music is phoned in and the worst of all the Gaxx games. The gfx are fairly simple with blips and blops for sfx. Gameplay suffers mostly due to the speed of the enemies and projectiles making the game overly difficult, much like all the Gaxx games really. It's not much fun when you can be shot half a second after the screen opens.

The game seems to have 16 levels overall. One I missed by not using the level one landing pad so this is shown at the start of the second loop where I lose remaining lives and end the longplay.
