Player's Review

"ZAXXON thrusts you into the depths of outer space. Test your pilot skills as you strap into the command position. Prepare for an action-packed challenge of space survival. Score points as you dive, climb, and swoop down to destroy the enemy's floating fortress. Dodge deadly laser barriers, enemy fuel tanks and your own supply is replenished. Survive the enemy's fighter fleet attack and face the ultimate challenge the powerful, armoured ZAXXON ROBOT."

Sega released there own conversion of Zaxxon onto the C64 and it's fair to say that its not the better of the two. While it does better resemble the original arcade game, sega used a very small cartridge (16-22k 21k image file) so there was only so much they could pack into the game.

The three stages are all there but getting through them is quite tedious in this version as the graphics and collision detection don't quite line up making it real easy to fly into the wall even though it looks like you should make it and your shot does pass through.

There is no music and the sfx is quite basic. There are times throughout the levels where you cant shoot anything and risk crashing into structures. These seems to happen where there are enemy projectiles on the screen and you cant fire until they are gone. The game is endless and repeats after defeating the Zaxxon. I play until I have reached 100000 points.
