Player's Review

"In 1973 the space probe Pioneer 10 passed Jupiter and left the solar system for good, or so mankind thought... 3021 AD - An alien ship crashes to earth. Onboard, space pirates have hijacked the probe and sent the ship's computer into a self-destruct sequence powerful enough to blow up the planet! Your task is to locate the computer and avoid total destruction. Missions include retrieving the energy crystal, swimming through hazardous fuel tanks in a hydronaut suit, and donning an exo- skeleton for the ultimate show-down."

Like Dan dare III before it, extreme is mostly remembered on the spectrum for the great artwork (not so much the gameplay) and game engine that is able to shift 8x8 pixel blocks at an impressive rate for the Spectrum 48k. Some compromises have been made to the C64 game, a smaller playfield amongst other things and just not overly impressive for a C64 game.

Again a £9.95 tape game. With only three levels it can be over quickly. I find the game notably easier than the Spectrum game as there doesn't seem to be as much out to get you. Levels one and two are a breeze but level three might be the breaking point. You need to use the weapon sparingly so that you have enough to kill the tank and computer. The tank will try to fire at you, but a well timed shot will destroy the projectile.
