"Test Drive: Drive five of the world's most exotic cars!
If you've ever wondered what it would be like to experience the power and performance of the world's most exclusive cars, wonder no more. Accolade's Test Drive puts you behind the wheel of five exceptional auto-mobiles in a driving simulation that is guaranteed to ignite your adrenaline. Is your heart strapped in? Good. Hit warp speed in a Ferrari Testarossa, blow the doors off with a Lotus Turbo Esprit, corner until the tires scream in a Porsche 911 Turbo, bring your oil to a boil in a Lamborghini Countach and dust the fuzz in a Corvette. Test Drive's authentic graphics, sterling sound and lifelike animation allow you to sense the awesome characteristics of each machine. They handle like the real thing. They brake like the real thing. They move like the real thing. In fact, Test Drive is so realistic you'll swear the G-Force has pinned you to your seat. Accolade's Test Drive. Welcome to life in the fast lane."

In this longplay I show playing through all five stages with each of the five cars. Maybe overkill as nothing happens for finishing the game with all cars but this way we get to see each car at each pitstop, time well spent ... After completing the game I choose another car with the eventual aim of showing Game Over.

You get a limited number of lives and can lose them all instantly if crashing into the back of the cop car. Other Ways to die are to over rev the engine, fly off the cliff, crash into the cliff or crash into another car. A speeding ticket is awarded if the cop car catches up with you. Make sure to stop though and not crash into the cop car. If you overtake the cop car, your steering will lock up. If you are lucky, you wont crash and just get a ticket.

The controls can be annoying in that you cant steer and accelerate or break at the same time. The collision detection can seem like a roll of the dice at time but overall id say it's fair. What's not fair however is when the game suddenly throws two cars and a cop car at you all at once. Hitting the cop car is an instant game over. I cant say if this is a game glitch or intentional but the way the car appears and disappears I'm inclined to say glitch.

Overall, this was a great game on the C64 and one of the first C64 games I played and all time favourite. It was just so different to other racing games at the time with its first person dashboard view and working wheel. Later I went on to enjoy the Amiga game just as much.
