Player's Review

"The time 1930's. Down Town Chicago - corrupt and crime riddled. MOUSE MALONE, CHEESY FINGERS and FATS RODENT rule the streets. Murray Mouse Super Cop is UNTOUCHABLE. The Mouse Mafia MUST be stopped."

Another Cartoon Adventure from Codemasters sold as a budget game. The game is closer to 'Little Puff' than 'Slightly Magic' making it more accessible for a younger audience. The game is simple. Navigate the maze like level taking objects and using them in the right place to reveal more of the maze. A secondary objective is to find all the mice along the way. Collect them all and youve won! There are just three red herring items near the end of the game you don't need.

It's not overly difficult but the character movement isn't exactly smooth and the controls are terrible. It can be a real pain jumping on platforms as you need to lauch from a pixel perfect spot. There are a couple of spots that will take more than a few goes. It's not as twitchy as the Spectrum game but you still need to be careful as the C64 game is even more dangerous than the spectrum game with shallow water that kills you as well as torch light.

Overall, it's an ok game but nothing outstanding. It's very much like the Spectrum game right down the gfx with muddier colours and not making use of all the available screen area. Background messages are not in this version and the story messages get super annoying as they appear every time you enter there trigger point. The controls can make it frustrating but at least we get music in this version and objects are easier to pickup with no need to jump at them.
