Player's Review

"Quad Racing at it's best! Sand duning Snow donuts, Dirt Trackin' FUN! Hyper Jumps and 180° Wheelie Spins".

One of the early 1.99 budget releases from Codemasters. ATV Simulator contains six levels of differing terrain that you must traverse within the time limit. A game for one or two players. in each level you need to approach obstacle at the right speed and lift the front to just the right hight to drive up the obstacle. To much lift and you will tip backwards. too fast and you crash. at the right speed and height you have the opportunity to jump for some air time. The game loops after six levels as you go through them again with a tighter time limit. I don't think there is an end as the time limit gets too tight to continue.

Overall, a short and simple game that I played a fair amount on the Spectrum. I don't like the C64 version so much as I think it plays too fast for the very short levels and can feel unresponsive to the fire button for jumping. The Spectrum game may feel too slow yet more responsive and paced just right.
