"ALL the FA CUP, LEAGUE and SUPERLEAGUE features! Plan TRAINING, TEAMTALKS, MARKET TRANSFER and cunning STRATEGIES! Realistic THROW-INS, HAT TRICKS, PENALTIES, INJURYS, OFF-SIDE and more! IT'S INCREDIBLE YOU ARE THE BOSS."

The original game was released on the Spectrum in 1991 before being included in the compilation in 1993. The C64 conversion comes across as rushed and is missing much of what was contained in the original release and massively lacking in overall presentation. It is a football management game but all you can do is buy and sell players, setup a position strategy and let the game decide if you win a round or not.

At the start of the game you can choose to manage a team from any of the divisions from the premier league right down to the 3rd division for a much longer game as you climb the ranks. Then you can log on to the computer and check your team player stats and assign their training role. You can also save and reload your game from here. The phone allows you to buy and sell players as well as checking your bank account and the notepad lists the current scores in the league. When ready to start the match you are taken to a screen to setup the player positions before seeing the automated results. Then you are in a constant loop of buying and selling players for the highest stats and hopefully able to move up the ranks to eventually win the FA Cup.

The longplay shows managing the Liverpool team through the premier league. The can be unforgiving and rarely awards a goal making progress quite slow. It doesnt help that the game is blatantly cheating right from the start by having thirteen players on the pitch and I am only allowed up to eleven. It doesnt help that you players grow older after each match and there stats are constantly falling requiring you to replace them to stand a chance. The goal keepers starts are weird in that they go up and when they eventually get to 99%, they become dumb as dirt and totally useless. I realised way to late that the players only train when they are not playing so you should have some players in reserve.

Overall, this is a very basic football management game even compared to the same game on other platforms. Weird stats bugs and blatantly unfair opposition make this a less than enjoyable game and thankfully was never sold separately from the compilation. I claim the FA cup and complete the season in 1st position in the premier league. Unfortunately the game would crash if I roll over to season two with a broken team promotions screen. So I end the game by quitting the team. It took far to long to complete the longplay and totally not worth your time. Having to reset up your formation every time you buy or sell a player is annoying as well as the buy screen it self, you have to keep going in to see new offers. Like with Cue Boy, I could not find any original preserved tape images so am using the 'Just-for-fun' crack for this longplay which may or may not be the source of the crash issue.
