Chrono Cross: Radical Dreamers Edition
|
Player's Review
[DIMENSION HOPPING!] RPG by Squaresoft.
Follow a boy as an adventure to make a necklace ends up being a grand adventure across dimensions! Along the way, he meets an Australian(?) chick. Oh, and there's another game involving an Australian(?) chick, a musician, and a masked magic d00d sculking through a manor for fire.
A compy consisting of Chrono Cross and an official translation of Japan-only game Radical Dreamers. Chrono Cross gameplay consists of doing 1 of 3 attacks to fill an element grid (this game's magic system) while managing Stamina. Oh, and there's a LOT of characters. Radical Dreamers is more of a CYOA/VN with some battles here and there. Its goal is to reach the end of the game without getting TOO roughed up by the encounters. Failure to take an action during battles will result in damage to Serge. Things added to the remaster includes having the Time Shifter RIGHT at the start (no need to clear the game), Battle Booster (Element Grid always maxed, refill HP, and 100% dodge rate), auto battle, and no encounters. There's also cleaned up models, cleaner character portraits, and a script change here and there. You can also play the game in its original graphics.
This longplay plays Chrono Cross casually: some usage of the Time Shifter and using Battle Booster to grind some mini-star levels all while getting ALL characters, all endings, all Level 7 Techs, all Summons, and all Doppelgangs. First 3 parts are just casually going through the game. 4th part is NG+ and Continue+ shenanigans while fixing a few things I messed up on, like getting Kid's level 7 Tech, getting Full Revival, cleaning up Doppels. Missed a few things, mainly Rainbow Shells but that's a non-issue (one is deliberately avoided because roulette minigame can't be cheesed)
Radical Dreamers just gets through the game while getting roughed up. I do get the Good Ending though.
