Player's Review

"An ex-U.S. President has been kidnapped while touring central Africa on an assignment for world peace! Your Mission: Land in enemy territory. Break through tank line. Neutralise special attack unit 'Scorpion'. Penetrate mountain pass. Destroy enemy HQ. Smash enemy supply line. Rescue President! Go Get em Mercs!"

This is another Capcom arcade conversion that seemed to have come out better on the other 8 bit machines. That's not to say the C64 version is bad though as it looks and plays like a C64 game as expected.

Not much to say on this one. You can scroll and move freely around the level map shooting any enemies that appear on screen. They kind of appear randomly and shoot fast so you need to be ready to turn and killem quick. Along the way you can go off the advised route that it tries to push you in and the reward for doing so could reveal a crate containing a weapon or life upgrade. They usually appear in a left side, right side order so its a good idea to check out the extremes. However the punishment for doing so is an ever spawning enemies potentially bringing health down faster than if you kept going on the main route. After each level you are sent to a boss stage. These can be as easy or as hard as you like using any megabombs you are holding to take em down quick.

Overall the C64 version isn't a bad conversion gameplay wise but the lack of sfx and a really annoying music track that loops constantly really puts a negative light on the game.
