"HE'S THE MEANEST SON OF A SNAKE YOU'VE EVER SEEN! HE'S THEHKM
CARVE OUT A PATH OF DESTRUCTION AS YOU BATTLE TO STAMP YOUR SUPREMACY OVER A MULTITUDE OF OPPONENTS.
Face Igor the Fearless and his rabid dog amongst the sacred Temples of Moscow. Don't be fooled by ladies of the night, Maria and Helga, streetwise and toughened in the seedy underworld of Amsterdam. Match the cunning guile of Miguel, master bullfighter and the unvanquished fighting bull Brutus in the splendid surroundings of the Barcelona bull ring. Trade blows with the awesome titan Hans and his drunken compatriot outside a German beerhouse. Finally confront the merciless terrorists of the Middle East amongst the battle torn ruins of Beirut. Tough and mean.... you're the H.K.M.!"
After the abysmal Arcade conversions of Street Fighter to the 8/16 bit home computers which likely only sold well due to the name, Tiertex was looking for another challenge. To develop the unofficial sequel to Street Fighter believing they had the magic formula to take fighting games forward. Some where along the lines as the game was being developed the challenge was changed to 'can we make a game worse than Street Fighter and every other fighting for now and all time. The result is the Excellent Human Killing Machine!!! Tiertex not only met the challenge but have made the gaming history books to be remembered for all time
The game has you traveling to five counties to face 2 foes in each You start with Five lives and the opponent has 3. Each round requires you to defeat the opponent until all lives are gone before you can move onto the next. There is no win screen and game loops back to round one. You get a few basic moves on each direction and by holding fire and choosing a direction you can execute some better moves. Hold fire for as shorter time as possible to land harder hits.
Overall, the game is massively unfair and unrewarding to say the least. Each enemy has a health bar that is constantly regenerating Yours regenerates at a slower rate. You can also by killed in a single hit!! Each time you fully defeat an opponent you are rewarded an extra life with a maximum of five with a rating of strong. If you lose lives you will have a weaker rating and the opponent will gain lives requiring more rounds to defeat the opponent. This is not fun at all. You cant really attack with any kind of strategy other than swipe the feet and crouch punch. Anything else rarely connects and will likely get you insta killed. I believe the game is meant as a pure score attack and see how far you can get and you either give in to fatigue or fight for eternity. Really, the best thing you can say about this version of the game is that it is better than the Amiga version.
