I remember playing Tyrian 2000 just once a long long time ago and I really enjoyed it. It's a great game so I was happy to have a chance to look at it once again.



Actually, no. For now, I just took note to watch the YouTube version, but I haven't yet.

I've been waiting to see if the "problem" with the link would be resolved... and I admit I was too shy to just ask in the forum what the problem actually was.



I'd love to see the high-quality version of this longplay, but, really, I can be fine with the YouTube version. : )

glad to hear there's demand for this longplay still. I have both the compressed and uncompressed videos on my HD and can resubmit. You probably watched the video in YT already though.

I just wanted to be sure it was a problem of Archive.org and not just a mulfunctioning link. I'm glad I asked ^_^

As I said, it's no big deal : ) I will watch the YouTube version. High quality or not, I can still enjoy the longplay and that's what matter to me.

Its another one of those games that someone at Archive.org has deemed the video unsuitable and deleted it with no explanations. (The make_dark.php script has been run on it)

They have been deleting videos seemingly at random with no real pattern to it. Unfortunately non of us have a complete local backup of all of the longplays so we cant restore the files.

Not sure if this is the right section to post this. I've searched the forum - very quickly, I must admit - but I couldn't find a place to discuss any problems with the movies.

Anyway...

I was excited to see a longplay of Tyrian 2000 and I was eager to watch it.

But when I clicked on the link, the download page showed me this message:

"Item not available"
"The item is not available due to issues with the item's content. "

Do that mean that the longplay won't be downloadable anymore?

Actually, it's not that big of a problem, cause I can always watch it on YouTube. I'm just a bit disappointed that the video is not high quality. But it's ok, if there's no other choice : )

Wow, thank you so much for this site, I'm one of those obssesive persons as for brightness and contrast adjustment, very helpfull.


I'll follow the steps you said before doing any tweaking.


But the question I really wanted to know, is if there's a correction/adjustment availible in the Avysynth script, or the Megui software. And if it's allowed. If it's not, I still wanna know for other renders.....

Generally, pc games should be absolutely fine on its defaults. Before you can tweak anything you need to make sure the image you are seeing on your screen is correct.

Make use of this site to help calibrate your screen. http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/contrast.php

You want to be able to to see all colour steps so that non of them blend into each other. Other tests on the site make sure you can see the extreme black and white points. Once that is achieved, then you can use the in game brightness calibration to make sure blacks are not crushed or turned into grey.

well i do all of the missions, just none of the paper routes or mowing lawns stuff, i do cut a lot of time off by getting myself into trouble on purpose to make me get to some of the classes faster
i didn't go for any of the collectibles which would probably take a really long time nor did i do all 5 levels of each class

sorry about the brightness stuff, next time i do a game for an SD console i will configure the settings to make it look better

Thread mainly ment for the attention of Spazbo4 but may be useful to discuss for all. As I'm always questioning the quality of the SD longplays. I Feel some of the recent sd wii/gamecube/xbox could have done with some brightness calibration.

I'm a little concerned about an 8 our run of the game fitting in a little over 3.5gb video. Not only that, its half the lengh of Geekmeisters video so one of them is either taking far to long doing stuff in the game or not completing the game

Maybe I'm just being an asshole and moaning over nothing in my Elitist pursuit for video quality in our longplays or maybe we need to toughen up our submission & acceptance policy for the good of the site and humanity! I like to the think the site has come along way since the early days of highly compressed and blurry movies mainly due to youtube limitations..

well i've been looking at my recent ones since i've gotten my hd pvr 2 and nothing seems to be wrong with them when i check them before i upload them to the ftp

1) Before upload DS1 I checked it and it was ok (in my MPC-HC at least), the archive version should be fine (downloading it atm to recheck). Ds1 part 3 (YT version) get the encoding error 3 times so i decided leave it as it is (2 parts of 3 better than 0). The main version is the archive one anyway.
2) If you don't know i forced to split files into parts because YT can't handle HD video over 3h. Usually it's get stuck to only 240p or just encoding forever (sometimes there are lucky exceptions). Split it yourself and world would be happier place (for me at least).

To Spazbo4: Only YOUR videos have that kind problems everytime. (DS1 not the first case). I don?t know how but you doing something wrong all the time. I tired of redownloading\reuploading your videos because you can?t even check it BEFORE submitting to the FTP. 50% of your videos gets YT encoding error or sound sync problem. Do something with it already.

Here the review before submission:
1. Record on Gens 11b emulator.
2. Record on AVI on Gens 11b emulator.
3. Go to MeGUI include AVI Synth, MP4 and AAC audio the using MKV Muxer.
4. Use the text file as you see Longplay Name is AmyRose.
5 Get the pictures on the title.
6. Save file of SFV File with PAR2.
7. Upload on FileZilla

Remember do not reuload the video again, just start new record the game, thank for the time I have.

Though I hate this game to be sure, I'll admit it's not really because of the graphics. But far be it from me to not whine about something! For one, it's tough to gauge what's the background and what's actual jumping material; many a time I found myself scraping down the sides of buildings, getting plaster all over my Hot Topic Ninja Pants.
