Re: A short Welcome video trailer for the site.
Hello guys!! I am back again with more suggestions for this amazing site!

Since I became a member for this wonderful site last year, maybe it need a little feature like a Welcome video trailer, giving a warm welcome for the visitors and new members. It's just a suggestion, that's all I asked.

Cheers!

I'll admit I'm a bit drunk right now, but I still think I'm sober enough to be serious about this suggestion.

Change the theme colors to pink and purple, and replace the game characters under the logo with hot naked chicks.

That's all.

Ratings and comments are now enabled for all previously posted longplays. If you notice anything of the two missing from a longplay's page, leave a comment about it at the respective page, or in the Shoutbox.

Re: Edit link disappears after removing a screenshot
After I remove a screenshot from a submission, the edit link disappears and doesn't appear until I put a new screenshot in the submission, which I have to do via the edit link on a video category page.

Re: Request for Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
Tsunao is the only person who does 3DS longplays. Since there are no working 3DS emulators that runs any 3DS games, you will have to ask him if he will longplay this game.

Hi, I'm Gamerfan375 and I was wondering if I can do a request for a longplay of Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D for the 3DS. Let me know if I can do it.

Re: Add game release date to the longplay lists
Word up,

I guess this thread is kind of self explanatory but long story shot: To avoid confusion as per which release of the game is in question (if it doesn't already grant itself from the title, that is) there should be added a new parameter to all longplays. Currently there's upload date, youtube, game title, longplay duration, file size, language, info and player 1 and 2 nicknames. What I would recommend is that the release date of the game be added. Some games i.e. Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of Lounge Lizards have several different remakes or re-releases with the same name as the original release and, thus, it can be a chore to figure out which one of them is in question when you're browsing for a longplay. Cheers!

Re: Unofficial bug patches
Word up,

What is WoLP's official stance on unofficial bug patches for PC games that were left abysmally buggy even with the latest official patch? I'm talking about games that have their official support discontinued by the developers and publishers. I was toying around with the idea of eventually making a longplay of one or more games from the Fallout franchise (PC Windows versions), which, along with almost all Interplay / Black Isle / Bethesda titles, has somewhat of a bad reputaiton of being left for dead with dreadful nigh game breaking bugs while the devs already moved on to work on other titles. I know some of these patches might go more into the mod category as they are often bundled with restored features and content that were cut from the official release of the game due to lack of budget and time, e.g. KillApp's Fallout 2 Restoration Project and the like. Here's a list of what I would like to do:

Fallout 1 with latest official patch and restoration mod
Fallout 2 with latest official patch and restoration mod
Fallout Tactics with latest official patch
Fallout 3 Game of the Year (includes all the DLCs) with latest official patch and unofficial bug patch
Fallout: New Vegas Game of the Year (includes all DLCs) with latest official patch and the *semi-official balance patch from J.E. Sawyer

*Sawyer worked as lead game designer on Fallout: New Vegas at Obsidian Entertainment but after the official patch support was discontinued by Bethesda he still felt some of the weapons and items in the game were left unbalanced so he decided to go civil and make an unofficial patch and release it as a mod in the modding community. Personally, as the man had the final say on what was supposed to be implemented into the game, I hold his word as law regarding to what is "official" content and what is not, even if it's released without the stamp of approval from Bethesda / Obsidian due to legal chanennigans.

Re: Bounty system
Word up,

Another interesting feature I found on Speed Demos Archive is the bounty system where you can promote the realization of a long play of your favourite game by offering a bounty for it. Check this thread for more info on how they did it: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/p...ns361.html. Would something in the like be feasable for WoLPs as well? The way they are doing it is individuals offering a specific amount of money for a speed run with specific parameters (certain percentage of the game done, time limit, specific difficulty, with/without glitches etc etc...), while here on WoLPs it could be something like a kickstarter esque system where people offer money up for grabs and when the run is done and accepted, the person who did it recieves the money. That way, the more people interested in a specific long play, the more money gets addded to the bounty, thus making it much more worthwile for, let's say, someone who isn't maybe particularly interested in the very game but is an experienced gamer and long play maker and wants to take it up, or just haven't bothered with it yet because it was a particularly long and difficult game. That way there would also be some kind of compensation for the actual work the person does for the long play as some of the games take a very very long time to play through. What are your thoughts? There are some games that will not be done, ever, just because they are too ug. This would be a great way to combat that.

Cheers!

P.S. I would be more than willing to scrape up a couple a dozen bucks for a good long play of a game I love.

Re: 60 fps videos?
That was due to limitations of the recording software at the time of the recording. We've been trying to replace some of the older videos but it isn't a priority.
I've also seen Youtube refuse to show some videos at 720p even though it was recorded in 720(namely my Hitman Absolution longplay)

I'd say WoL is less concerned about Youtube quality and its more about the quality when downloading from the archive. Hence why they always say, if you want better quality, go to the website.
