I think we need a new site logo. I'm not very satisfied with the one we have now.

I'm not very good on logo design myself, so anyone want to help?

Actually I'm not used to reading forum posts here, so I didn't even know that new logos were requested. I drew mine only for fun and sent it to Hip to get his opinion. :blush

I have added this one and the alternative version of the one you sent me in pm. That blue version isnt bad at all! And its only 7kb!

Yeah! I don't really understand how that file can be so small.

And that is the occasion to ask you a favor.
I couldn't upload it to the forum, because it only accepts jpeg or gif files.
As a jpeg file, it becomes about 10 times larger.
As a gif file, it would not look as good, because of the 256 color limitation.

Could we please attach png files to forum posts, please? ;-)

I think there is no benefit using gif images today. The only reason to use gif's instead of png's for websites is because of IE 6.0. (It doesn't have support for png transparency).

Small gif images with 256 colors or less seem to be bigger than images saved with 256 colors png. It also depends in which software you save the image. If I save a image in paint, it gets about 10% bigger than saved in Paintshop Pro. The files I've tested have the same color information and color depth. But they still gets bigger with paint for some reason.

Oh well, you presumably know all that stuff much better than I do...

What bothers me is that since we have added the new logos, your poll on the left shows more and more "I don't know" and less and less "Better than the old one".

Actually I had a better idea tonight by looking at the forum buttons. I think these ones would look better when put in a row and at the same time take less space.

Unfortunately the rating system is broken and have not worked since the server upgrade 2009/6/6. If you rate a longplay 5 of 5 it still only show 1 star.

I think it's related to the PHP version that runs on the server. Now the server runs PHP5. It worked fine on PHP4.

On the other hand, I just noticed in the left column the "Most Rated" list uses some small green stars that are far more coherent with the download button (green button, white arrow pointing down).
