Player's Review

Sega Rally Championship Plus is the second release of the Sega Rally Saturn game, released in 1996 in Japan with the addition of Xband support. With the game having spent a few more months in development, it also features some bug fixes and a few graphical updates over the original version of the game, including more obvious support for the 3D game pad.

All that said, comparing the two games. I can not see any visual differences so if there are any you may need to point them out to me. When compairing against the previous longplay, I only noticed that a second set of credits are not played in the original version of the game. The game is quite difficult as the controls are quite sensitive with the effect of massive oversteer on a light button press. The ai cars are quite tough and not easily knocked around. The replays are quite funny in that your car is drifting/slipping/sliding around every corner and the ai cars look like they are on a fixed scalextric type track with no issues with speed/traction around corners. There is one corner on the mountain track that is very tight and the ai car even ends up taking it at speed without issue on two wheels!. The game is quite short once you have mastered it and only really offers time trials after that if you really want to keep pushing your lap times.

00:00:00 - All 4 tracks of the Arcade championship played through with the Toyota Celica CT-Four. Afterwards the full credits are shown. This seems to be only time you will get to see the credits as the game will no longer show them if you complete championship again. Completing this mode unlocks the Lakeside track in Practice and Time trial modes. Before moving on I show the full championship replay.

00:18:23 - I play through the Arcade Championship again, this time with the unlocked Lancia Stratos HF. This car is fast at the expense of handling like a shopping trolley. I also enable Hard difficulty as this car makes Normal quite easy. I also show an additional audio track and place it onto the desert track. After completing I show the full championship replay. At this point, I noticed there is no leaderboard when using the Stratos.

00:32:55 - A third run through the Arcade championship with the Lancia Delta HF Integrale. I put difficulty back to normal as I don't think the Toyaota or Lancia Delta can make it through hard. This Time I Hold X while Pressing C to start. This gives me improved car stats and is often referred to as the Hyper Car on cheat sites. I couldn't really tell though while playing if the car was really any better though. Corners were much easier to take at speed with this car though due to its size advantage. Completing with this setup also adds you to the 'Special' Ranking list so as not to interfere with legit times. Again I show a full championship replay for ...reasons.

I end the video with a quick look at the rankings board just to show how the times are separated and that the Stratos times are only recorded in Time trial mode.
