"Duel to the Death. All-mighty immortal Alpheren, the World's Greatest Warrior, summons all compatants and present: "My strength torments my soul. Slay me and deliver peace I can only know in death." The immortal Alperen possesses the ultimate prize: The Dual Blades. The mysterious sword bestows the coveted immortality. Gain the Dual Blades or Die!"

I wanted to cover this one mainly because it was the last game from Vivid Image thats been with us since the C64/Amiga days. Looking back they didnt make that many games really. One of the better developers we have lost I think.

The game plays like most other fightinggames of the time. Multiple combatants each with there own special moves and in this game, death moves!. Before a match you can choose which combat style and deathmoves you would like available. In the longplay I try to show them all, but can not always find the right control and placement combination. Im not sure if its a bug or not, but the game will often just display 'Death' instead of the name of the deathmove so this just adds to the confusion to if I pulled it off or not. Initially I was just going to show just a single character but instead showed how to unlock everything while showing off each characters death moves. Most of the special moves and death moves share a common control combination and as the longplay progresses I just endup button mashing to victory. The game is very well presented even for the very tiny gba resolution. Also, the music sounds a bit off. Im not sure if this is an mGBA emu issue or not.

In the opening battle, I set game to hard and play with the normal 2 rounds. This also gives some bonus rounds although I'm not sure on their purpose since there is no scoring in the game. I wanted to play on Deadly but it made the game a chore as the opponent would just block everything and constantly break mine. For the remaining Battles I play on Normal 1 round just get through them quickly. This eventually leads to unlockig the final character Alpheren, the most inique fighter as he can play in two different styles and swappable at any time. I Play on Deady with the OP fighter.

Afterwards I play Survival and Time Attack modes. This unlocks Transfrm and Crazy Mode. While not shown I did mess with them and I could not tell what Crazy mode did but Transform allows the opponent to change character during the fight. Not sure what Combo mode is either.
