Player's Review
"Konnichi Wa !
THE TIME: 17th century. THE PLACE: Feudal Japan. THE CONFLICT: The land is rife with civil war as the great warlords of Japan battle with each other for control of the Shogunate, and control of Japan itself. THE HERO: Usagi Yojimbo is the warrior who must oppose the dark forces, a lone Ronin Rabbit of great skill and endurance. SAMURAI WARRIOR is a game of combat, subtlety and manners!"
A side scrolling ninja brawler that allows you a little exploration by choosing your path. It's one of those games we all go back to due to it's gameplay even if it often turns brutally difficult. Something todo with the vibrant gfx and catchy tunes. What really gets in the way is the very suspect collision detection and the fighting controls. When they work, you kill quick and it feels great. when they don't, you get torn down quick and it can be frustrating.
Your on a mission to rescue Miss Panda and standing in your way are bad tempered ninjas and Samurai's. On your journey you will encounter poor peasants who you can greet and offer money for karma. As a follower of the way of Bushido, doing good deeds rewards karma and taking the sword out and frightening or slaying the locals causes you to lose karma. Should you land on zero karma then you will perform Seppuku, taking your own dishonorable life. Money is used for passing certain areas, buying food or offering money to a farmer for karma. You don't get much but more money can be found by killing samurai pigs but could cost you health trying to do so. More annoyingly, these enemy appear more after passing the restaurant.
I play through the game twice showing both the lower and upper routes. At the end I show Seppuku.

00:11:45 Upper route
00:23:45 Seppuku
