Player's Review

"Pilot an experimental super plane through 36 action packed suicide missions within three player selectable' modes, Twin Rapid fire lazers and an impressive missile guidance system arm you with the technological edge needed to complete your missions.
G-Loc's previously unrivalled H.U.D. keeps you informed of enemy FX85 tailgaters, and a special Booster operates the Afterburner for quick escapes... or better still blast them out of the sky by executing a 360 manoeuvre which will give those FX85's a taste of their own medicine! G-Loc delivers the pulse pounding excitement you'll just want to keep coming back for!

SEGA Arcade G-Loc: Loss of Consciousness by G-Force R360 conversion was published on the main 8 and 16 bit home computer system by US Gold in 1991.Whilst the all differ in how they look depending on hardware restraints the gameplay is largely the same in that you fly and fight off hordes of enemy fighters whilst evading and fighters that come up from behind. The ending gfx look to be shared across all versions. Whilst the box talks about an R360 manoeuvre of pulling back and coming back behind the enemy like the unique R360 arcade version, that isn't really replicated here as you can usually just afterburn and barrel roll away much like Afterburner. Playing on Hard mode though it can be a bit tricky as they really like to stay on your tail no matter what.

You get bullets and missiles but the bullets are really a last resort as they o so little and your primary damage is dealt by waiting for a missile lock on and firing for a sure kill. Missiles are limited so ideally you do wait for that lock on. The most formidable enemy in the game though is the time limit which is constantly counting down and when it runs out it is game over unless you have been awarded a credit for a fast level completion time. At the end of each stage you are awarded a time bonus for the next stage depending on how much time and missiles you have left. Any damage to your plane is fully repaired between levels but should you get shot down, you will soon return to continue on but some valuable time will have been lost. To succeed in this game especially on hard, you need to get through each stage as quickly as possible and I do this by concentrating on lock-ons whist risking being shot from behind. Boosting can save you but also cost time as you fly past enemies and have to wait for another wave.

There are three difficulty levels which end the game at different points with only Hard mode going right through to the ending and is played here/ Overall, it's a typical US Gold conversion in that it looks the part but not quite the same game its trying to copy. Playing on a standard A500 for the time it can slow down noticeably effecting control. It's been quite the pain to record as all of the cracked versions just crashed at various points and the whdload has broken keyboard support so no way to continue or boost. Original IPF used here with typical disk loading speeds..
