but i still think the video stream on archive is terrible, i watched longplays by different people and they were still low res, no matter the container. and the video player crashes all the time

madmatty okay i think i know what you mean, so far i only took into consideration the codecs, not the containers. in the future ill try with mp4, since its better for streaming

With industry standard mp4, there is no conversion process and you can download and stream the same hires files. Not to mention mp4 is playable on a wide range of devices, which h264 avi is not.

@mihaisbest avi is generaly not the filetype people look for for there hd videos since its a minor miracle it works at all. Archive.org creates some real low res videos so they can be streamed.

i dont understand what you mean. all the avi files are on the archive and i can download them. and it says this item is currently being modified/updated with a "derive" task so maybe its not

If you click 'SHOW ALL' You can see Part 3. For whatever reason Archive wasn't able to convert the avi video into a stream able format. Blame Miha for using the wrong container format
