My general rule of thumb.. If I don't feel the extra side stuff actually adds anything worth watching to the game, I don't do it. Otherwise, I do everything I can.

Play the game how you want to play it. You want to do 100%/open all safes, good or bad, do it. want to just get through it while partial stuff, do it.

Question about Goonies II: Would the player be expected to open EVERY safe even though every unhidden one is pretty much useless?

Some Japanese versions have difficulty differences so depends on the game, mario games are a bit hit/miss between versions.

SMB3 Jap.... I for one think that should be rejected as there is not much difference between the two... or set the (a) flag to it.

First time playthroughs won't be rushed compared to 'multi ones' as you know where everything is and can 'speed run' it.
