OBS can use the source of a capture card as input but i wouldnt recommend it over the software the capture cards come with

Is OBS more than just a screen capture/stream? Can it actually use the capture card as a source? And does it allow full control over the capture codec?

Good old OBS is the best solution to all problems.

I use PS3 for PS2 recordings and works like a charm, def the best way to do it, tried PS2 HDMI converter also but screws up the res and interlaces and quality is crap

the best way i have found to record ps2 games is off a ps3 in 480p where the ps3 will do its own deinterlace and keep the framerate to whatever the game uses so my capture card doesn't try to make

and my hdmi capture card will force a deinterlace but cut the framerate in half so it wouldn't meet our quality standards

so far my experience with ps2 recording hasn't been that great unless you are recording it off a ps3, my rgb capture card doesn't like 480i signal and screws it all up

I finally have the equipment that I needed that converts RGB to HDMI. I can now do some PS2 LP if the quality is improvable enough.

Mario it depends on the game. Most games usually 640x480 640x448 the in game itself will it will you what resolution it is.

just record the saturn game in bizhawk and crop any black borders and whatever that comes to should be fine, no need to double resolution i think
